The main airlines and international tour operators have direct flights connecting Gran Canaria with the Iberian Peninsula, about 3 hours away, and with Europe, with journeys of about 4 or 5 hours. More than fifty airlines operate their flights at Gran Canaria Airport, connecting more than 140 destinations.
The trip from the airport to the capital of Gran Canaria, which takes about 20 minutes by highway, can be made by guagua (bus) -a service offered by the intercity transport company Global-or by cab. Within the airport it is also possible to rent a car at the offices of different car rental companies.
The Port of Las Palmas is connected to 180 ports around the world through 30 regular shipping lines. The city is an important cruise destination: numerous ships call here on their voyages, and it is also a home port for embarkation and disembarkation. The high cruise season starts in October and lasts until April. Passengers disembark at Muelle Santa Catalina, from where they have direct access to the city center.
The port also operates inter-island and mainland ferries. The companies Naviera Armas and Fred. Olsen connect the Port of Las Palmas with Huelva and Cadiz. They make one or two crossings a week. The duration of the trip varies between 32 and 38 hours. These same companies offer different connections between islands within the archipelago arriving or departing from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
