International airlines and tour operators have direct flights that connect Gran Canaria with Madrid, in 2:30 hours; Barcelona, in 3 hours; Germany, in 5 hours, or Great Britain and France, in just 4 hours.
The Port of La Luz and Las Palmas is the most important on the European Atlantic coast. It is connected to 180 ports around the world through about 30 shipping lines. On the other hand, this capital port is complemented by that of Agaete (northwest of Gran Canaria) with connections to the island of Tenerife.
The ticket per trip costs 1.40 euros. Travel becomes cheaper by purchasing 10-trip vouchers.
Lines 1, 12, 13 and 17 are very useful for moving between the main points of tourist interest in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, as they quickly connect the historic neighborhoods of Vegueta and Triana with the Puerto-Canteras area.
The Tourist Bus leaves from Parque Santa Catalina and Parque San Telmo every half hour. For 18 euros for adults and 9 euros for children you can do the complete itinerary, getting off and on whenever you want to visit museums, parks, buildings or shopping.
It is very easy to get a taxi, if you see a free unit (with the green light) you just have to raise your hand to stop it. You can also go to any of the 42 taxi ranks distributed throughout the city or request a unit by phone.
Touring by bicycle allows you to get around the city more quickly. There is a municipal bicycle loan service ( Sítycleta ), with which you can explore the city while taking care of the environment and enjoying the outdoors and the landscape.
Touring Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on foot is another appealing option at any time of the year thanks to its mild climate and the flat layout of the city, next to the sea.
