The open personality and multicultural character of the city can be felt especially in this area, the nerve center, along with Triana-Vegueta, of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Life here revolves around the sea: it is framed by an isthmus that joins it with the peninsula of La Isleta and leaves the beach of Las Canteras on one side and the Port of Las Palmas on the other.

Las Canteras offers endless possibilities for relaxation, leisure, gastronomy, sports and fun in its three kilometers of extension, covering three neighborhoods: La Isleta, the most popular, where one of the most beautiful natural spots in the city, El Confital, is hidden; the neighborhood of Santa Catalina-Canteras, with Santa Catalina Park, located between the port and the beach, as the vital center; and Guanarteme, where surf lovers gather in the beach area of La Cícer and music lovers in the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium.
