Many cities in one

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is located in the northeast corner of the island. It has two nerve centers, the historic center, formed by Vegueta-Triana, and the area of Puerto-Canteras. Due to its orography, it is situated on two levels: the lower city, which runs linearly along the coast, and the upper city.

The area of Puerto-Canteras is distributed around the isthmus of Santa Catalina, which joins the city with the volcanic peninsula of La Isleta. On each side of the isthmus there is a beach: Las Canteras, emblem of the city, which extends from La Isleta to Guanarteme, at the exit to the north of the island, and Las Alcaravaneras, next to the Port of Las Palmas.

The neighborhoods of Alcaravaneras, Ciudad Jardín and Arenales are located in the center of the city, to reach Triana and Vegueta. The colorful cliffs of San Juan, San Nicolás, San Roque…, one of the most unique postcards of the capital of Gran Canaria. Moving along the coast towards the exit to the south, we reach the fishing district of San Cristóbal and the beach of La Laja.

In Ciudad Alta are concentrated neighborhoods such as Escaleritas, Schamann or Siete Palmas. And further on, in Tafira Baja and San Lorenzo, we leave the city behind to enter the more rural areas of the municipality.
