TOP 5 Philharmonic

Mahler & Chichon

Karel Mark Chichon conducts for the first time in season Mahler’s Symphony No. 5, a gigantic fresco where the pulse of life and its multiple expressions beats strongly: from the fatalism and the tragic air of the Funeral March, through the extroversion and the danceable air of the Scherzo, to the vibrant final Rondo. And among these the Adagietto, a passage of transcended lyricism, has achieved extraordinary fame thanks to its inclusion in Luchino Visconti’s masterpiece Death in Venice. As a perfect complement, the contrapuntal richness of Bach’s Keyboard Concerto BWV1058, with the Gran Canarian Isaac Martínez Mederos at the piano.
