The rationalist city

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has an important rationalist architectural heritage thanks to the architect Miguel Martín-Fernández de la Torre, who introduced the European avant-garde in the 1920s and was also responsible for the urban development of the capital of Gran Canaria in the first half of the 20th century. The Ciudad Jardín neighborhood, designed by Miguel Martín in the 1930s, is an emblem of rationalism, as is the Cabildo de Gran Canaria building.
