Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra

Visitors to the capital of Gran Canaria have the opportunity to attend a concert by the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra. Today considered one of Europe’s leading orchestras, it is the heir to a tradition dating back to 1845, when the Philharmonic Society of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria was founded.

Under the baton of Karel Mark Chichon and with the participation of renowned conductors and soloists, the orchestra offers a symphonic season running from September to July at the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus. It also takes part in the island’s main musical and cultural events—among them the opera season and the Canary Islands Music Festival—as well as developing an educational project.

Families can enjoy their own concert series, held at the orchestra’s headquarters, the Sala Gabriel Rodó.
