El Confital Beach is the natural continuation of Las Canteras. Located on the La Isleta peninsula, a Protected Natural Landscape, both the beach and its bay are designated as a Special Area of Conservation (SAC).
This is a unique spot along the city’s coastline for connecting with nature. It can be accessed on foot via the seaside promenade that runs along the coast from the La Puntilla area, as well as from the Las Coloradas neighbourhood.
The beach is made up of rocky platforms and a strip of coarse golden sand. The quality of its waves is highly prized by surfers, who consider the Confital right-hand wave to be one of the best in Europe.
Several routes allow visitors to explore El Confital beyond the beach itself, discovering its geological, ethnographic and historical values. La Cueva de los Canarios, once an aboriginal settlement, is located on the upper part of the mountain. Two bunkers, the remains of a coastal battery and a complex of trenches recall the strategic importance of this enclave in the defence of the city.
