Holy Week

Holy Week takes on a character of its own in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, especially in Vegueta, which hosts a dense programme of processions and religious events in its churches, hermitages and in the Cathedral of Santa Ana itself. During processions such as La Burrita, Santo Encuentro, Los Dolores, Las Mantillas, the Magna Interparroquial and the Retreat processions, brotherhoods and worshippers carry their sacred images through the streets, infusing the historic quarter and the surroundings of Triana Street with a unique atmosphere.

To fully experience Holy Week, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria also offers musical events such as the International Bach Festival, along with concerts held in various churches and cultural venues.

Enjoying Holy Week in the capital of Gran Canaria also means immersing oneself in springtime and its mild climate, taking advantage of the season to enjoy the city’s many outdoor leisure options, discover its gastronomy, stroll through its streets, or explore walking trails and routes in its natural surroundings.
