Traditional pottery, basketry, ceramics, Canarian cutlery, jewelry, embroidered table linen and clothing are some of the products that can be purchased in stores specializing in Canarian handicrafts, located mainly in the neighborhoods of Vegueta and Triana and around the Santa Catalina park, at fairs and flea markets.
Near Triana Street, the store of FEDAC (Foundation for Ethnography and Development of Canarian Crafts) offers a selection of traditional and modern pieces made by artisans associated with this entity of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, which also organizes during the Christmas holidays a fair in the park of San Telmo.
In Vegueta, the Plaza del Pilar Nuevo hosts every Sunday the Crafts and Culture Market, with stalls offering everything from typical products made by Canarian artisans to local fruits and vegetables.
Throughout the year, the city hosts markets where handicrafts, pieces made on the island and local products are the protagonists. Luis Morote Street, next to Santa Catalina Park; Mesa y López Avenue, and in the promenade of Las Canteras, the area of La Puntilla and the footbridge of La Cícer, are the usual locations.
