Canarian wrestling

A vernacular sport that maintains a strong following in the city is Canarian wrestling. The competitions are held in a circular sand arena, with wrestlers of different levels: the participants get away with a complicated variety of grappling and tricks to try to eliminate the members of the opposing team. Terreros like the Camurrita, in the Vicente López Socas Sports Complex, host the different insular and interinsular leagues and tournaments.
