Canarian Lateen Sailing Boats

Canarian lateen sailing is an indigenous sport that has been practiced in the city’s bay since the beginning of the 20th century and is part of the ethnographic heritage of the Canary Islands (it was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 2016). The competition between boatmen dedicated to the transport of people and goods between the boats and the port gave rise to this sport, whose regattas offer a unique stamp on the coast of the capital of Gran Canaria between April and September.
