El Confital is a stunning natural enclave that combines beach and mountain landscapes right in the heart of the city, with significant geological, ethnographic and historical value. Located on the La Isleta peninsula, a Protected Natural Landscape, it can be accessed on foot from Las Canteras Beach via the seaside promenade, as well as from the Las Coloradas neighbourhood.
In the beach area, visitors can enjoy the sea, the natural pools that form at low tide, and views of the city in a peaceful setting. Several routes allow walkers to skirt and explore the mountain, crossing a volcanic landscape and revealing sites such as the Cueva de los Canarios, which was once an aboriginal settlement. A number of bunkers, the remains of a coastal battery and a complex of trenches recall the strategic importance of this enclave in the defence of the city.
At the top of the mountain, the Cruz de El Confital is a perfect spot from which to watch the sunset.
