Modern and contemporary architecture are a fundamental part of the cultural heritage of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. This tour takes us through the rationalist constructions of the Gran Canarian architect Miguel Martín-Fernández de la Torre, an essential figure to understand the urban planning of this city from the twenties of the last century.
It also includes buildings built in the 60s, with the rise of tourism, as the former Hotel Don Juan (now Hotel AC), which rises on the heights of the isthmus of Santa Catalina. And it reaches the 21st century with references such as the Woermann Tower, built in 2000 very close to the beach of Las Canteras and converted into an architectural symbol of the city today.
