Atlantic Center of Modern Art

The Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno (CAAM) is dedicated to contemporary art and culture. One of its defining features is the tricontinental vocation of its artistic and intellectual practices, which revolve around Africa, America and Europe.

It offers visitors a programme of temporary exhibitions—mostly produced in-house—along with an intense schedule of outreach activities linked to contemporary creation, such as seminars, conferences, performances, music, sound art, literary creation and performing arts. This programme is complemented by educational and pedagogical activities.

Located in the Vegueta district, the CAAM is housed in a historic building on Calle Los Balcones, which was remodelled by architect Francisco Sáenz de Oiza to transform it into a versatile contemporary art exhibition space. Its structures evoke its relationship with the Atlantic and incorporate elements of traditional Canarian architecture.

The CAAM also has a second venue, Sala San Antonio Abad, located just a few steps away in the square of the same name.
