Alfredo Kraus Auditorium – Canary Islands Conference Center

Located at one end of Las Canteras Beach, the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus and Palacio de Congresos de Canarias is an iconic landmark of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. In this building, beauty and functionality come together to create, on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, a space for the performing arts as well as for conferences and all kinds of events.

The Auditorio Alfredo Kraus, home to the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra, offers a comprehensive programme featuring local, national and international artists. Among its 25 halls, the Sala Sinfónica stands out, with a large picture window that provides sea views while audiences enjoy the performance.

The building, conceived as a “fortress that protects and a lighthouse that guides”, was designed by the Catalan architect Óscar Tusquets. The Gran Canaria artist and architect Juan Bordes is responsible for the sculptural intervention, a recreation of the marine fauna of Las Canteras Beach, present both inside the building and on each of its façades.

The auditorium bears the name of Alfredo Kraus in recognition of the Gran Canaria tenor’s contribution to the world of music. A large bronze sculpture by architect Víctor Ochoa, located next to the auditorium, also pays tribute to Kraus.
